Osteopathy is a healthcare profession that utilises a patient focused, physical approach
to help restore, maintain, and promote physical and psychosocial well- being. Techniques
take the form of manual therapy involving massage, stretching, mobilisation and spinal
manipulation for the treatment of a range of musculo-skeletal problems.
At Broadshires the utmost care is taken to focus on the needs of the individual patient,
whatever the complaint. Each patient is assessed and examined, analysing the body
to observe the effects of lifestyle, posture and movement. An appropriate and individual
treatment plan is then designed concentrating on alleviating existing pain and to
help prevent future problems. Treatments can involve a variety of osteopathic techniques
and Pilates based exercises.
Pilates back care classes are also available at Broadshires Osteopathic Practice
clinics either onsite or at a nearby location.
Your initial consultation will last up to an hour. The osteopath will spend time
asking you detailed questions about the nature of your problem and will take a full
medical history from you. They will then examine you and analyse your problem. Then
after discussion with you a suitable treatment plan will be created and the first
treatment will take place.
